Many Christians today as far as blessings of different categories are concerned, they often quote Psalms 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Most of the Christians especially those who are serving and devoting their selves to God treat this verse as a channel of blessing wherein it is the fulfillment of what they are desiring. Going closer to the text, this is not about reaping or receiving of what we are desiring in our lives. It is all about sowing. God will put the desire (what the heart should desire) to the heart of those who delight in Him. It is about giving the desires of heart not fulfilling the desire.
A Christian does not know the desires of his heart unless he delights in the Lord. Delighting in the Lord is the only way by which God will put the desire of our hearts. One of Apostle Paul's desire was to preach the Gospel to the gentiles. He only knew that desire when He delights in the Lord.
These are some things most Christians desire: to walk in righteousness, to serve the Lord faithfully, to advance the Kingdom of God through preaching the Gospel, to help those who are in need, and to be more submissive in His Words. God put all these things in man's heart as his desire only when he delights in the Lord.
Grace and peace to you from the Lord Jesus Christ.
