  MBST-GIFT GIVING 2010

Gift giving is the heart of our school, Manila Baptist School of Theology (MBST). We gave like groceries, school supplies, toys, and clothes. We held it yearly instead of Christmas Party. The former we did:  we had gift giving in Orphanage - Jabez Campsite Dasmariñas Cavite,  in Prison- City Jail Dasmariñas Cavite, in our school –per student we brought one of the member of the family who are in need,  and we did it twice. For the resources we had “Piso mula sa Puso” and additional contributions from the students and professors to raise funds for the gift giving.  Indeed, our heart was full of joy during this time and truly the essence of Christmas was become meaningful. Perhaps, giving must be our life as Christ did for us.

Now, another opportunity was given for us to give in the four families somewhere in Tagaytay City this year 2010. The place has no exact address and it was unknown place because it is under the wood and creek side of the mountain. We know that the place was a mountain that’s why we wore rubber shoes, slippers and some of us wore nothing. A little bit, were surprised because it is along the highway going down in a creek side to arrive at the families. The way was too high, muddy and slippery. When were there, totally our tiredness was lost and our hearts filled of joy. The people was warm-hearted, they welcome us eagerly.
Thus, we start our gift-giving in Praise and Worship, then hearing God’s Word by Pastor Jon Benosa. For us MBST students, it is our first time we heard Him preaching. He has a good message about “Jesus was born not to Live”. It is truly that the presence of God is moving and there. Then, we had the games for children and giving gifts. Of course eating is inevitable. There’s a lot of food with many fruits too. The families were very generous and kind for us. Before we leave we have all “pasalubong”. Actually, Manong one of the members of the family there was talked to me that anytime we can go back there.

As a result our gift –giving was trudged because when were going back, we go up and the way was too high. It is harder than going down. We complained while we go up that it is very hard to walk, were thirsty, our body is aching especially our legs, our feet were muddy and our clothes were very wet through the sweat. But, blessings in this guise too because did not rain. If it is happen, it is rigid for us to climb on the creek. When we reached the top-highway, Oh!  Praise God! What a good feeling. All of us want to sit in the highway. So, totally, it is a tiring gift-giving but a great experience for us. I remember the hardship of Jesus Christ, when he did his missions. He suffered a lot to reach out people to have life and save them.  What we did is not enough. It is only a beginning for us.  The time we spent has a great value. For making the families happy, blessed and feel them that they are loved at short moment.

Therefore, Giving must be our life. For like Christ, he gave his whole life for us to show his love.  Since, we have God, we are blessed. Through giving we can express our love and concern to others, we learn to give and share what we had and taught us being unselfishly. It can testify that God is really with us. Like what we always say, it is better to give than to receive. It means the more we give the more we receive. The more God pour out his blessings for us.  What we did, no one can disburse, although it is trudged gift-giving for us because it is meaningful and great experience.
